Elevation
When looking at images from an alien world, it can be difficult to piece together its geological history. It can be hard to tell a volcano from a crater, that is a hills look like holes. Ridge lines look like rivers. However, when images are combined with elevation data, these ambiguities can be eliminated. With GeoVirgil, you can create elevation cross sections over top of Martian images to show which features are hills and which are holes. You can measure the elevation along a river to determine which way a fluid was flowing.
